Highlights
Highlight #1- La Familia De Esperanza was blessed with the opportunity to have a phenomenal Christmas 2020. LFDE kicked off the holiday season by having several of our families work together to create a stable and Nativity scene. These items were all handmade and looked incredible at the entrance to one of our mobile home park communities. We partnered with Pirate Nutrition, His Gracious Hands Ministry, and Community BBQ to provide a wonderful Christmas for our La Familia kids. The community did such an amazing job providing age and gender specific toys for each of our kids, and it was such a blessing to see the joy both the kids and parents felt when they received their gifts. These gifts were all wrapped, and we have many volunteers to thank for that, including the Youth at Invincible Church.
Highlight #2- January was all about Goal-setting! Thank you to some amazing volunteers our La Familia Community had a Vision Board Creation event. During this event, the moms (and even some of the kids) discussed their goals for 2021, and made some great boards showcasing their hopes and dreams for this year. It was so cool to see La Familia working together to cast their visions for all that they hope to do throughout 2021.
Highlight #3- February was full of LOVE! We were so grateful for all that purchased our adorable treat jars, and our La Familia moms received some of these yummy treat jars thanks to a wonderful contributor donating jars to LFDE. Our kiddos received adorable Valentine's Day bags filled with: snacks, stickers, fun activities, and homemade Valentine cards. These came from a Garland ISD teacher, and a group of her friends and their children, who wanted to show some love to La Familia De Esperanza. The Wylie Volunteens, also, provided adorable handmade Valentines that were both creative and crafty!
The Unexpected
Snowstorm 2021 came with a vengeance and this provided the La Familia De Esperanza Community the opportunity to lean in and care for one another. We were blessed to work with local community partners, 5 Loaves Food Pantry and Napoli's Wylie Restaurant to provide piping hot lasagna and garlic knots to our families that were without power. Along with the piping hot food was a delicious salad chock full of veggies. It was such a blessing to be able to check in with our community, while providing some awesome local cuisine.
Though this storm was unexpected and brought hardship to many, it, also, provided people opportunities to look out for one another and show love for their neighbors.
Until Next Time
Thank you for touching base with La Familia De Esperanza and we look forward to sharing more updates in our next quarterly newsletter. Until then, we petition your prayers for each of our families and our community as we continue to grow and further establish the Community that is La Familia De Esperanza.
